In our parable from Jesus today we hear one of the more disconcerting statements Jesus makes in his many lessons of the kingdom of God. There are those who will feel angst and insecurity about the destiny of their souls and of God’s mercy and love. And there will be many who will look to this verse, their religion or spirituality, and their interpretations and find a special hope and solace.
